Degree of Bachelor of Arts with a major in Media Studies.
Holding this certificate in my hands, I finally feel that the past three years are a finished chapter. And for the first time during these years, I feel that I have accomplished something. I've progressed. I haven't been standing still.
I'm also happy that I took the opportunity to party like a wild animal for three solar circulations, because that will probably be the last time I could do it to that extent. I've met so many weird, exceptional, straightforward, hateful, lovable, light, dark, slimy, interesting, fascinating people. I had a wonderful goddamn blast.
I've grown a lot during these three years. If the 2006 version of myself would meet me, he would certainly have a hard time recognizing me, mentally speaking. He might even be afraid of me.
The journey doesn't end here though, thankfully, as I know must carry on with the rest of my life. I have to find a job. No easy task, I'll tell you that. It's a fierce competition and most game studios want really experienced designers often with at LEAST 2+ years working in the industry. 5+, or even 10+ years are also common. As a freshly graduated student, I ain't got much to top that.
However, I'm still positive about the future. New jobs are available daily, IF you look at the global market. And I have to do that. I can't stay here in Sweden if I want to make it in the game industry, I just can't. We have studios here too, but to rely solely on them feels kinda stupid to me. I have to turn my gaze outside the national border and head for new territory. It scares me a lot, but I also feel very excited.
And as an aspiring game designer, one must have a portfolio, a personal site, someplace dedicated to showing off. I have created such a place. God bless blogs, as I'm not too keen on html or any other web-making code.
Here's that link: The Wasteland Outpost
I've posted two games which I helped to create during my education, as well as my degree project. The blog serves as my complete resume. All my abilities are summed up on that site. I just hope that they are enough for a designer position, somewhere on this planet.
